SportIkon day 1 ends with IPL match screening

After the hustle and adrenaline filled first day of Bennett University’s sports fest SportIkon, all the students and players gathered to watch the screening of the 9th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The screening was organized by Sports BU, the sports club of Bennett University. Students from all the universities who came to participate in the SportIkon Fest showed up for the screening.
“It was a fun and joyful experience to watch an IPL match in such a way, out in the open with other fellow sportsmen from different universities,” said Ashutosh, a second year student from Bennett University.
It was a very enthralling match with KKR scoring 205 runs in the first innings despite losing a lot of their top order batsmen with minimal runs.
The crowd witnessed Varun Chakravarthy’s outstanding bowling spell which stopped RCB with just 123 runs in the 18th over in the second innings.
Apart from the excitement of the match, the event also provided an opportunity for students from different universities to come together and bond over their love for cricket. Every boundary or wicket was met with loud cheers and applause.
The sportsmanship shown at the end of the match by both teams was also displayed by the various teams that participated on the first day of Sportikon.

The Times of Bennett is a website run by the students of Times School of Media. All content on this site has been generated by students as part of their training. This includes mobile videos, podcasts, web reports, web features, infographics and photo essays. Besides this, the students work on wire reports too, and update content in real-time.

The website is powered by the Content Management System that is used by the Times Group Editors. This gives the students the opportunity to learn journalism using technology that is the best in the industry.

The School was set up in 2017 by Bennett University, and currently offers a three-year course that leads to a BA Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. The course has been prepared in association with the Times Group Editors, who are closely involved in running the programme and even mentor students. The best work of the students, who get hands-on training on various Times Group platforms (Print, TV, Online and Radio), is published in The Times of India and other Times Group websites.
