Greater Noida: Early trends for theUttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022 show the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP ) in the lead with over 47 seats out of the 70 constituencies at 10 am. It has been able to muster a lead in the hill-state by crossing the halfway mark of 35 seats.
The incumbent Chief Minister of Uttarakhand,Pushkar Singh Dhami , from the BJP is also in the lead from the Khatima constituency of Uttarakhand’s Kumaon region. If the trend continues, this will be the third time that Dhami wins from Khatima, thereby breaking Uttarakhand CM’s political jinx of not coming into power after being elected once.
Also, if the BJP manages to sustain the lead when the result comes in, it’ll also be the first political party to have won the Assembly Elections for two consecutive years in Uttarakhand, since its formation in 2000.
Until now, Uttarakhand has been a bipolar polity between the BJP and theCongress . But this year’s early trends, as per the ballot votes, predict that the BJP wave in Uttarakhand might continue despite the party changing its CM thrice in a span of four months.
The main opposition for the BJP in Uttarakhand is theCongress party, which has so far only gathered 19 seats.
Former Uttarakhand chief ministerHarish Rawat , who is contesting from Lalkuan, in an interview to ANI said today morning that the party is most likely to emerge victorious in about 48 seats.
The Aam Aadmi Party, a new entrant in the electoral arena in Uttarakhand, has not been able to secure even one seat as per the early trends.
