ESPN video head shares industry insights with students

In an interactive session led byPrabhanjan Verma , Head of Video Operations of ESPN , he discussed the importance of the digital medium growing in sports production and production in general. This session was attended by the first-year students of the BAJMC program of the Times School of Media .
“Never shy away from technology, it is your most valuable ally and biggest problem solver,” he told students.
Sharing his expertise and insights with the students during the session, he unraveled his work experience in political reporting and his role in launching the newStar Sports channel. Throughout the session, Verma shared his extensive experience and knowledge in sports production and media in general. “With mastering content management while keeping both the market and business needs in mind, you make for a strong and suitable candidate for any company,” he told students.
Verma also played a snippet of a documentary byESPN “The emergence of Shaheen Shah Afridi as a world-class bowler” for the students to showcase the quality and expectation of work. He highlighted the importance of linking the brand and the individual’s creativity and preference by prioritizing the content needs.
“The upside to such guest interactions with the students of today is that we get to know the thoughts of the new generation and interact with them as these institutions are pipelines of sorts to the media industry," he said.
The students asked various interesting questions to Verma as he patiently answered each one of them. "Interacting with such a senior professional in the industry was eye opening and I look forward to subsequent interaction with him," Shreyaz Walia, a first-year BAJMC student, said.
At the end of the lecture, Verma hoped he had not bored the students and joked, “I don’t know how to give a lecture and prefer to call this an interactive chat”.
