A Curtain Call to Remember: Jashn-E-Cinema 2026

Jashn-E-Cinema 2026 embodied the university's vibrant cultural spirit through a night of unity, talent, and reflection. The highlight was BYOB Live's finale, where the audience joined in singing and swaying, blurring the stage and crowd in a shared, emotional celebration marking the year's end. The evening opened with a poignant badge ceremony honouring club leaders for their dedication, setting a reflective tone before the performances. Clubs showcased diverse talents: Advaita's energetic band set the musical rhythm; Cerebrum's witty Farzi Mushaira skit satirised poetry; Panache's ethnic-modern ramp walk dazzled visually; Verve's narrative Bollywood dance enthralled; Ansh's comedic theatre Big B chal Padhe delivered laughs; and Rivaaz's classical dance closed gracefully. Vikram Singh, Music Society Secretary, summed it up: “A great end to the year—a final goodbye, but a celebration of what we’ve built together.” The event was a farewell tapestry of collaboration, from quiet honours to explosive energy.

A Curtain Call to Remember: Jashn-E-Cinema 2026

If there was one moment that captured the spirit of Jashn-E-Cinema 2026, it was the crowd singing in unity under the spotlight,
voices rising, hands swaying, and a shared sense of belonging echoing through the venue. The final artist performance by BYOB Live didn’t just entertain, it transformed the audience into performers themselves. Their stage presence, seamless audience interaction, and infectious energy blurred the line between the stage and the audience. At one point, every single person seemed to be part of the performance, singing along and living the music rather than just listening to it. It was more than a concert; it was a collective experience, a celebration of everything the university’s cultural life stands for. As the last notes faded, they carried them with not just applause, but the emotional weight of a year coming to an end.

Before the spotlight, however, came a quieter yet equally significant moment, “the badging ceremony”. Held prior to the performances, it
marked a symbolic transition as the club leaders were recognised for their dedication and leadership throughout the year. One by one, badges were pinned, representing not just positions but months of effort. It was a proud and reflective moment, offering a pause before the high-energy celebrations began, a reminder of the people behind the performances.

The evening’s performances unfolded as a dynamic showcase of talent, each club bringing its own identity and flair to the stage. Opening the night, Advaita, the music club, set the tone with a captivating band performance. Their selection of songs struck a balance between energy and melody, immediately engaging the audience and establishing the rhythm for the evening.

Cerebrum, the debate society, took a creative turn with their skit, Farzi Mushaira. Blending satire with wit, the performance cleverly played on poetic traditions while adding a humorous, contemporary twist. It stood out not just for its concept but for its execution, leaving the audience both amused and impressed.

Panache, the fashion society, brought visual elegance to the stage with an iconic walk performance. Dressed in ethnic ensembles infused with a modern twist, their ramp walk celebrated tradition while redefining it. The confidence and creativity on display turned the stage into a runway, making it one of the most visually striking acts of the night.

Verve, the western dance society, followed with a high-energy performance that seamlessly combined storytelling and dance. Set to
Hindi Bollywood music, their act unfolded like a mini narrative, where each movement contributed to a larger story. The choreography, expressions, and synchronisation created a performance that was both entertaining and immersive.

Then came Ansh, the theatre society, with their production Big B chal Padhe. A humorous mystery centred around the idea of a “Big B
murder,” the skit was packed with quirky characters, unexpected twists, and moments of pure comedy. It kept the audience engaged throughout, proving once again the power of theatre to entertain through storytelling.

Rivaaz, the classical dance society, concluded the club performances on a graceful note. Their act brought a sense of tradition and
poise to the stage, offering a beautiful contrast to the high-energy performances that preceded them.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that Jashn-E-Cinema was more than just an event it was a farewell, a celebration, and a reflection of an entire year’s worth of work. From music and dance to theatre and fashion, every performance contributed to a larger narrative of collaboration.

Summing up the essence of the evening, Vikram Singh, Secretary of the Music Society, shared, “This was a great end to the year a
Final goodbye to this tenure, but also a celebration of everything we’ve built together.”

On March 10, 2025, Times School of Media at Bennett University hosted a masterclass by Lovejeet Alexander, Director - New Economy at Bloomberg, on modern financial journalism, the digital economy, and data-driven storytelling. Dhiraj Sir opened the session, discussing technological shifts in the economy before introducing Alexander, who contrasted the old economy (physical assets like factories) with the new (data, tech, and platforms like Amazon and Meta). He explored the attention economy—where attention builds influence and attracts capital—and narrative capital, where stories drive markets, citing GameStop, AI hype, Paytm's IPO, Adani volatility, and Zerodha's trust-based success. Alexander concluded with five principles for journalists: track capital flows, grasp industry tech, distinguish narrative from reality, value credibility over speed, and adopt a global mindset—stressing accuracy amid information-driven markets.
