Gothic Brides & Dapper Hulks: Inside Bennett’s Spooktacular Halloween Night

Hallows' Eve came early in Bennett University when the whole campus turned into House of Horrors for the event. Clubs performed their eerie acts and students dressed up in garbs of bloody brides, swanky pirates and creepy clowns. The celebrations were capped with a DJ night that would be remembered for the days to come.

A crowd of witches, vampires and a smartly dressed hulk descended upon Bennett University on
the 27th of October. The celebrations of Halloween came a little early for Bennett this year, with
dazzling performances, shops full of creepy knick-knacks and activities that sent the heart racing.
All of these celebrations culminated in one unforgettable night with DJ HPO.

The evening was opened up by a gothic setlist which created the right eerie vibe while also
giving the audience a reason to tap their feet. The creepy atmosphere of the event was helped by
a huge theatre mask, set centre stage with eyes that followed you around. Once the mood was set,
it was time for the cherished clubs of the University to take centre-stage. These clubs were
Panache, Ansh and Verve.

Panache, the fashion club, came to live up to its name with the members dressed up in ensembles
of gothic brides, brutal pirates and creepy clowns. After this, it was time for the drama club of
Bennett to take centre stage. Ansh came in with a creepy theme and left everyone gasping with a
horrifying twist to the story about a girl whose soul could never truly rest. The act was truly one
deserving of Hallow’s Eve. The last act to take everyone’s breath away was by the Western dance
club of the University, Verve. The dancers came with a set list and a story to tell and achieved
both beautifully. The performance was a worthy showcase in the spirit of Halloween and
conveyed all the elements of horror it was supposed to.

Then came the moment everyone had been looking forward to all this time and DJ HPO proved
himself to be worth the wait. The audience was warmed up with a pre-show set list that included
all the crowd favourites. This was then succeeded by DJ HPO taking over the music and
increasing the temperature of the evening by several degrees. The DJ hyped up the crowd
immensely and then followed through with a mix that could make the most stubborn of feets tap.
The event concluded before midnight, but if it was up to the students, the party would be going
on till the Sun-up. Everyone left with their feet hurting, but their hearts happy.

Halloween was also the perfect opportunity to turn the audience into participants by allowing
them to play with their imagination and dress-up in fun and creative, often creepy ways. Despite
the stress of Mid-Terms and Assessments, Bennett showed up for the event with just the right
amount of enthusiasm. Makeshift chainsaws and scythes could be spotted throughout the
audience along with fake blood, angel wings and capes that billowed.

The excitement for the event could be gauged by the amount of creativity and efforts that were
put in the costumes. References to popular movie series and shows could be seen throughout the
crowd. More niche references were also made, which led to strangers interacting and bonding
over their shared interests. The way Bennett celebrated Halloween was not just a checkbox in a
long list of events. Instead it was the celebration and get-together of people who for all intents
and purposes live in the same neighbourhood, but were lost in the crowd, unable to find the
group where they fit in exactly right. The night was a successful one, not because of the footfall
it produced but instead because of the connections it fostered.

Sukoon by Arohi: A Pause to Breathe, Share and Let Go

When life begins to feel overwhelming, sometimes what we need is not a long lecture or a perfect answer, but a little room to breathe. With this thought at its heart, Arohi introduced “Sukoon,” a mental-health initiative designed around stress-busting activities and the simple ideas of listening, support, inclusion and unwinding.
