Bennett University celebrated the spirit of Indian culture as RangTaali brought together students for an evening of traditional Garba, music and performances on October 22, 2026. Organised from 7 PM to 11 PM, the celebration featured 130 student performers and blended traditional Gujarati folk dance with contemporary entertainment.

Garba, a traditional folk dance originating in Gujarat, holds deep cultural and religious significance, particularly during Navratri, the nine-night festival dedicated to Goddess Durga. Traditionally performed in circles around a centrally placed lamp, Garba symbolises the cycle of life, energy and devotion. The circular movements represent continuity and unity, while the dance celebrates the victory of good over evil. Today, Garba has grown beyond regional boundaries, becoming a celebration that brings people from different backgrounds together through music and dance.

Reflecting this spirit of togetherness, RangTaali’s biggest attraction was a 35-minute Garba performance featuring 130 student dancers across 30 tracks. More than 300 students participated in the auditions, while nine choreographers guided the selected performers through three weeks of preparation.
The event was organised by the Student Council, Events BU and Rivaaz, Bennett University’s traditional dance club, in collaboration with ISAC, the Multimedia Club, and Silhouette, the Art Club. Their collective efforts brought together students from different communities to celebrate India’s cultural traditions.

Adding an element of surprise to the evening was a special appearance by Daya from the popular television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The appearance brought excitement and nostalgia to the audience. The cultural showcase concluded with TIMLI, a signature closing track in Rivaaz’s Garba performances, as members of Rivaaz, Events BU and the Student Council joined the dancers on stage.

Behind the performance was a demanding preparation process. The team had to manage rehearsals alongside mid-term examinations, limited practice spaces and restricted timings. Organisers also worked within a five-day approval window. Despite these challenges, the performers and organising teams coordinated their efforts to bring the production together.

Following the traditional performances, the celebration continued with a DJ night featuring DJ E.V.O and DJ Rishab Kalyani, keeping students engaged until the event concluded at 11 PM.

RangTaali highlighted how cultural celebrations continue to find a place in university life, allowing students to connect with traditions beyond textbooks and classrooms. By bringing together music, dance and student participation, the event reflected the importance of preserving cultural heritage while creating new shared experiences on campus.
